For many people their bedroom is their sanctuary. A quiet place that they can relax, read, and decompress from the day. Draperies can help make your room a place you’ll want to retreat to time and time again.
To keep your bedroom dark, choose drapes with blackout lining and flannel interlining. Lined drapes are a necessity if you want to limit the light coming in for better sleep. Blackout drapes are also a natural choice, blocking light as well as some sound, and creating a quiet sanctuary. Blackout drapes will also block out bright street lights at night.
To get the most out of the room-darkening qualities, measure a couple of inches beyond the window frame on all sides. DrapeStyle makes all drapes with returns (which bring the drapery fabric all the way around to the wall) which is another way to guarantee the most light will be blocked.
To keep your bedroom cool or warm, choose drapes with flannel or bump interlining, which will insulate your windows from heat or cold. Lined drapes allow you to cut back on air conditioning and heating costs and create a dark retreat during the daytime. Lined draperies also look more luxurious and regal.
Because bedrooms are typically low-traffic rooms, it’s possible to use fabrics here that you might not use other places, like silk or velvet. There are thousands of choices when it comes to patterned drapery and in a smaller space like a bedroom, this may be the perfect place to try something different with pattern or color.

Do you have different sized windows in the same room? Do you have an awkward sized window? Want to give the illusion that there’s a window? Off center windows can really make decorating difficult. Here are some ideas on how to camouflage challenging windows.
Extend the drapery rods beyond the frame molding. 12 inches if you have the space. Or extend your drapery from wall to wall and from floor to ceiling. This tricks the eye and you can’t tell where the windows start and stop, making you believe the window is larger than it is. This will give the illusion that your window is wider than it is.
Layer curtains and shades. By hanging shades just below the drapery rod it will make the window appear taller than it is. This layering look also makes your room look high end.
Use sturdy, thick fabrics. This will give you a high end look and the treatments won’t look skimpy. Use fabric with a vertical pattern or stripes that will draw your eye up. Fabric with a horizontal pattern or stripes will give the illusion the window is wider than it really is.
Outside mounted roman shades. By buying shades that are wider and longer than your window, will give the illusion the window is longer than it really is. And when the shade is pulled up, most of the glass will be exposed.

You decided on the house with the big, beautiful, panoramic windows. But now what? The windows are dramatic and provide amazing views but can be somewhat of a challenge when it comes to buying custom curtains or drapes. If you visit the typical retailers you are probably not going to find drapery that will cover extra long windows. Most retailers won’t have drapes that go beyond 120 inches. And that’s where DrapeStyle comes in. Everything we make is custom made, so yes, we can make drapes for your windows. Any width. Any length. Any fabric.
Do your tall windows offer an incredible view that you don’t want to obstruct? Consider adding sheers to your windows. DrapeStyle carries sheers in several different colors, style and fabrics so you are sure to find one that works for you. Sheers can add drama and softness to a room, without breaking the bank. Whether you are looking for a classic sheer or something more modern, DrapeStyle has plenty of reasonably priced sheers to choose from.
Another option for adding a little color and pattern to your windows, would be decorative panels. Drapes that do not open and close, they instead are stationary and provide much needed color to the walls.
Need privacy? Consider adding our sateen privacy lining or for a truly room darkening effect, add blackout lining. Perfect for darkening the room when you want to watch a movie or take a nap.
