Once in a while we like to just re-introduce one of our styles. This afternoon we were looking at a brand new pair of amazing Estate Linen Drapes that were just finished and I realized that we haven’t really talked about these lately and they are one of our best selling drapery styles. In case you have not seen the Estate Linen Collection you really need too.
These custom Belgian Linen Drapes are softer and thicker than our classic linens and a bit heavier. The weave is little more relaxed and the hand is beautiful. Like any natural linen fabric, they are going to be prone to wrinkles but a little time hanging on the rod should take care of them. Care cards are always included with each order to guide you so that you can hang your drapes yourself, beautifully.
We love to dress these linens up with edge-bands, borders and ribbons. For a limited time you can add a solid linen contrasting edge-band at no additional charge. If you would like one of our designer fabrics as the edge-band, we can do that too for an additional fee.
Like with silk drapes, our linens are a natural fabric so you may want to take advantage of our blackout lining promotion and upgrade the lining to blackout to both protect the fabric, give you more insulation and privacy. For $99 per panel, the blackout upgrade option is the easiest decision you will make when ordering your new drapes.
If you need some help selecting an edge-band, border or trim, please contact one of our designers. They love creating unique and one-of-a-kind creations for our clients.
When lowered, Roman Shades can provide light control, privacy and insulation to your windows. When raised, they look like a decorative valance-what an easy and inexpensive way to transform your space!
Standing alone or paired with our custom drapes or custom curtains, DrapeStyle’s Roman Shades are a stand-out! Each shade is made-to-order according to your specifications right here in our Arizona studio. Choose from any of our Silks, Linens, Cottons, or Polyester blends, along with noise reducing, privacy, or blackout lining options. The customization continues with your choice of cord position and outside or inside mount options. All shades include cleats and mounting hardware.
Inside or Outside Mount?
Once you’ve selected your fabric from DrapeStyle’s 450 fabrics choices, you will need to determine whether you want to mount your Roman Shades inside or outside the window. Would you like a more tailored look? Do you have beautiful molding around your windows you would like to showcase? You may want to consider Roman Shades that are mounted on the inside of the window frame. When measuring for your Roman Shade, take three measurements for the width; at the top of the window, the middle and the bottom. Your width will be the smallest of the three measurements.
For the length, again, take three measurements; left side, middle and right side. Your length will be the longest of the three lengths. A minimum depth of 1 ½” within the window casing is needed in order to mount the shade.
Would you like to create the illusion that your window is larger than it really is? Would you like to hide an unattractive window? Are there any obstructions that might hinder you from mounting the Roman Shade inside the window frame? Outside mounted shades offer more flexibility for mounting. For instance, the shade can be mounted anywhere above the window. You can create the illusion of a larger window by hanging your Roman Shade higher than the top of the window frame. This is also a good option when there is not enough depth within the window casing to mount the shade inside. The outside mount will also provide the best light blockage and privacy.
To measure for an outside mounted Roman Shade, measure the total width of your coverage area. We recommend that you add 1-1 ½” to each side beyond the casing of your window. This will be your ordering width. For the length, measure the height of the coverage area and add 1” above the top casing for mounting.
Whichever mounting option you select, Custom Roman Shades are a great way to dress up a window and enhance your living space.
What is Control Position?
This is a simple one. Would you like the continuous cord that raises and lowers the shade, to hang on the left side or the right side of the shade?
Which Shade Style Do I Choose?

Do I need Lining?
In one word, YES. Lining not only gives the Roman Shade weight so that it drapes beautifully, but lining your Custom Roman Shades protects the fabric from damaging sunlight. Selecting the appropriate lining for your room will make all the difference.
Will the shade be in a room such as a nursery or a theater room where you don’t want any light to come through? You will need Blackout Lining.
Would you like privacy but still want some light to come through? Select Sateen Lining.
Are your windows drafty in the winter or does the sun pour through in the summer? Select Bump Lining to repel the heat and absorb cold.
