Refreshing your home by season or just when you feel you need a new look, here are some easy ways to accomplish this.
Throws and pillows.
Be daring and perhaps try a shade that you normally don’t include in your home, as pillows and throws can be found at any price point and are easy enough to change out on demand.
Whether you’re using fresh or faux florals, they just brighten your home! Try adding some to various rooms in your home. Make small arrangements and larger ones, and try using different objects for vases.
They won’t break the bank and you can easily switch them out in the kitchen or bathroom to add some color and freshen up your rooms. Refresh your home with a new rug and you’ll immediately see a difference! Rugs have a special ability to add warmth and definition to the spaces they’re in. So, if you’re looking to redefine your space, there’s no better way to do it than with a new area rug.
Bedding. Your bed is essentially the centerpiece of your bedroom. Therefore, if you’re looking to bring some more life to your bedroom design, then there’s no better way to do it than by updating your bedding. Switching out bedding as the seasons change can be an easy and inexpensive way to update your look. Check out places like Ross and Marshall’s for fun fresh colors at inexpensive prices.
If your room is the outfit, then the window treatments are like the jewelry of that outfit. Don’t neglect your windows, window treatments are the finishing touch to any room. Layer window treatments by using shades and draperies then switch out the draperies as the seasons change.
I recently helped my in laws replace their window treatments. They had a few challenges, and it dawned on me, “standard” isn’t really “standard”. Every home has a unique design, unique windows and unique situations. But not to worry, there are solutions. And DrapeStyle can help.
My in laws have two corner windows that emphasise their beautiful view. They are on a hill so privacy isn’t an issue. However, the afternoon sun can be pretty intense, and they were looking for solutions to block the sun, so they came to me for suggestions.
Like I mentioned, they don’t need window coverings for privacy and they are working with a budget. They have a lot of wood in their home so naturally, my first suggestion was to add drapes to add color and softness to their home. Compared to shutters or shades, drapes are a less expensive alternative. Drapes will also draw your eye up and out, making the room and windows look larger than they really are.
The first step was to address the drapery hardware. When purchasing drapery hardware, you’ll first want to confirm that the collection has a swivel corner connector. This will be the item that connects two drapery rods in a corner. If it swivels, it will be much easier to work with.
If you need the drapes to be functional, meaning that the drapes will be opened and closed often, you may want to consider by-pass brackets and rings. If you need the drapes to completely close and meet in the corner, they will need to slide past the brackets allowing you to do this.
DrapeStyle offers a variety of different solutions for your window hardware, including corner hardware. Contact us for more information and we would be happy to help you with your window treatment project.
When ordering custom made drapes there’s a few things that you should expect; premium fabrics and linings, weighted bottoms, returns and overlaps, and packaged carefully so all you have to do is remove the plastic wrap and hang them when your custom drapes are delivered.
DrapeStyle hits all of these points and you can expect your drapes to look great and ready to hang once they arrive at your door. Once your custom drapes are completed, they are fan folded. This means that two (or more!) people have worked together to carefully fold the drapes so that the creases line up with the pleats.
Then, paper cuffs are wrapped around the drape in a few places to help hold the folds.
The drapes are placed in long plastic bags and sealed to protect the fabric while in transit. They are then placed on long tables until shipping day. The drapes are then carefully placed in a box, and packaged tightly to limit the amount of movement while in transit. As soon as the order is shipped, the customer is emailed a note to let them know their order is on the way and tracking information is provided.
When your drapes arrive you will be able to hang them right away. We install silver metal drapery pins to the back of the header and they easily slide into carriers on a traverse track or onto drapery rings. If you can’t hang your drapes right way, we suggest laying them flat on a table or draping them over a chair to minimize wrinkling. A care card is included in your order should you need to touch up the drapes and work out some of the wrinkles. But most of our customers find that after the drapes hang for a week or so, the wrinkles will work their way out.
