Let’s Talk Texture. Handwoven Silk.

The textile is a sign of high class and refined taste, and has been adored by designers and consumers for the entirety of its long and complex history.

Silk fabric was first developed in ancient China, and China remains the top producer of silk today.  India is the second largest producer of silk but the largest consumer of silk.  Silk is one of the strongest fibers.  It can be weaken when exposed to too much sunlight.

Drapestyle carries several types of silk, including beautifully textured, Handwoven Silk.  Available in 18 colors, our handwoven silk is soft with a touch of sheen.

Handwoven Silk is a bit different than Taffeta Silk.  Where Taffeta Silk has a smooth finish, Handwoven Silk is more textured and has slubs.  Slubs are soft thick fabric nubs purposely set for this desired effect.  At DrapeStyle, sateen lining and flannel interlining are complementary when you purchase silk drapes.  This helps insulate your windows during hot and cold months, protects the silk fabric from sun damage, and adds body and fullness to the drape.

DrapeStyle also adds drapery weights to the inside of the bottom hem of all drapes, 1 1/2″ double side hems, 5″ headers and bottom hems, and all striped silks are patterned matched.  It’s details like this that has made DrapeStyle a favorite among designers and home owners since 2002.  And all of our window treatments are made right here in the USA.  Using the highest quality fabrics paired with a talented team of seamstresses and you are sure to love your drapes as much as we loved making them.

If you have any questions about the different types of silk DrapeStyle offers, please contact one of our designers.  We love helping our customer design their dream drapes.  Maybe that’s why DrapeStyle has been awarded Best of Houzz in Customer Service three years in a row.  We invite you to read our Houzz reviews, and join us in the DrapeStyle experience.  You will be pleased.
