Memorial Day honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.
Cities and towns across the United States host Memorial Day parades each year, often incorporating military personnel and members of veterans’ organizations. Some of the largest parades take place in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. Americans also observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials. On a less somber note, many people throw parties and barbecues on the holiday, perhaps because it unofficially marks the beginning of summer.
DrapeStyle to would like to remember and thank those who have served our country. DrapeStyle will be closed on Memorial Day, but will be back on Tuesday, May 31st, to help you with your window treatment needs.

Just the words, “Tiffany Blue” conjure up thoughts of a little, blue, box, with a white satin bow. Then your mind starts to dream up the beautiful things that little box can hold.
The color known as Tiffany Blue was selected by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany for the cover of Blue Book, Tiffany’s annual collection of exquisitely handcrafted jewels, first published in 1845. Also referred to as robin’s-egg blue or forget-me-not blue, this distinctive color may have been chosen because of the popularity of the turquoise gemstone in 19th-century jewelry. Turquoise was also a favorite of Victorian brides who gave their attendants a dove-shaped brooch of turquoise as a wedding day memento.
Tiffany Blue was later adopted for use on Tiffany shopping bags, as well as in advertising and other promotional materials. True to the founder’s vision, the Tiffany Blue Box became an icon of luxury and exclusivity.
Pantone (the company responsible for developing the standardized color reproduction system) developed, and closely guards, the formula for the Tiffany Blue color. No one else can legally use THE Tiffany Blue color.
The Tiffany Blue has been a popular trend, and you can purchase just about anything in this shade, including window treatments. DrapeStyle has several blue fabrics that would work well with this classic theme. We would be happy to send you fabric samples of any of our beautiful blues, and your first $10 in samples are free. Everything DrapeStyle makes is custom made, so you are free to design your very own drapes, Roman Shades or pillows in any of our over 500 fabrics.
And in case you were wondering…….
TIFFANY & CO., TIFFANY, the color TIFFANY BLUE and the TIFFANY BLUE BOX are trademarks of Tiffany and Company.
Last week I was working with a designer who was working with a couple that was remodeling their home. They absolutely loved one of the Schumacher fabrics featured on our website. They loved THE most expensive Schumacher fabric DrapeStyle offers, but having drapes made from this fabric was a little out of their price range.
I suggested that they consider having their drapes made in a linen fabric in a solid color. DrapeStyle’s Belgium Estate Linen fabrics are beautifully textured and come in a range of colors. They could then have tiebacks and pillows made in the Schumacher fabric they loved. By doing this, they would save money and would still get a punch of color throughout the room, in the beautiful Schumacher Hot House Flowers fabric they loved so much.
Still considering tiebacks? Don’t forget the outdoors! When your outdoor drapes aren’t in use, tie them back for a finished look. You can add matching tiebacks to your order or try a complementary fabric for an added punch of color. Your tiebacks will be made with the same sun and mildew resistant fabric as your drapes. Please see our outdoor page for more details.
For $39.99 each, you can purchase tiebacks in any of DrapeStyle’s custom fabrics. For a designer touch, select a complementary fabric for your tiebacks, the possibilities are endless. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the fabrics for the pillows either! Contact one of our designer’s for suggestions or ideas, fabric samples, or a quote. We love helping our customers create their dream drapes. In fact, DrapeStyle has been awarded Best of Houzz in Customer Service for three years in a row. Great customer service paired with the most talented seamstresses, and no detail gets overlooked. We are here to help you every step of the way. Please join us in the DrapeStyle experience, you will be pleased.

And just like your drapes, you want to hang your shower curtain “High and Wide”. This will give the illusion that the walls are taller and the room is larger than it actually are. In need of coordinating hardware? Drapestyle offers several different types of drapery hardware, from classic to contemporary, in a wide array of finishes, you’re sure to find something that fits your style.
So whether you are looking for a custom shower curtain, or a creative way to hide an unsightly shower, DrapeStyle has a solution. Order samples of any of our fabrics and see the quality for yourself. IKAT (pronounced ee-kot) continues to be one of the hottest trends in home and fashion today. Ikat comes to us from places like Indonesia, India, and central Asia.
Ikat is defined as “a method of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft fibers. The dye is applied prior to the threads being woven to create the final fabric pattern or design.
What does this really mean? You can easily add a bit of this fun, global style to your home without breaking the bank!
Some easy ways to incorporate Ikat into your home are:
Throw pillows are an inexpensive way to add a pop of color and the latest Ikat trend. Available in a variety of prints, DrapeStyle has several options for custom made pillows. Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns within the same hue.
Another inexpensive way to add style and color to a room. Ikat wall art is available almost anywhere. You could even make your own art by purchasing a bold Ikat fabric and “frame it” over canvas stretcher bars you can purchase at any craft store.
A tray, vase, rug, footstool or pouff; items like these throughout the room can really add a punch of color and carry through the Ikat theme.
Drapes or Roman Shades
This is where DrapeStyle can be a tremendous help. We have several Ikat patterns available for custom drapes in any style you choose. Ikat patterns also look great made up in a Roman Shade and pillows. At DrapeStyle, little details like matching up patterns, weighted bottoms, blind stitching, and 3 1/2″ returns, have made DrapeStyle one of the largest suppliers to home owners and designers throughout the US and Canada.
So whether your decor is traditional, rustic or eclectic, Ikat patterns can be incorporated into your room’s decor. DrapeStyle has many Ikat fabrics to choose from. We carry designers such as Robert Allen, Kravet, Schumacher and Trina Turk, and we would be happy to send you samples of any of our fabrics. Once you have received your samples, feel free to contact one of our designers that can help you design your dream drapes. At DrapeStyle, we have been making custom window treatments for over a decade. We love our customers and it shows! DrapeStyle has been awarded Best of Houzz in customer service for three years in a row. Pair that with our talented team of seamstresses, who have on average, 25 years of experience, and you have a winning team! As always, your drapes will be hand made right here in the USA. Please join us in the DrapeStyle experience-you will be pleased.
Hover. Break. Puddle. You probably know these words but did you know they also pertain to drapes and curtains?
Determining the length of your drapes takes a little thought. First, ask yourself a few questions:
What is the style of the room you are having drapes made for? Is it formal or casual?
Does this room get a lot of traffic? You do have kids and pets constantly running through the room? Will there be traffic going in and out of the door the drapes will be hanging from?
What kind of flooring is in this room? Carpet? Tile? Wood? What length will look best with your type of flooring?
Not only are drapes like “Jewelry”, creating the finishing touch to your room, but they can provide privacy, help with heating and cooling cost, and make your room and windows appear larger. So it is important that we make your custom drapes the correct size.
These are examples of drapes that are too short:
What a difference drapes make!
This is the same sized window; doesn’t the window on the left look so much bigger?
Hang ’em HIGH and WIDE!
This is a trick that designers use to make the space appear larger than it is. Your room will look taller if your drapes hang 2″ from the ceiling. Measure 2″ below the ceiling or moulding, to the floor for your finished length. If your space doesn’t allow you to hang your drapes this high, you can hang the drapery rod 4″ above the window moulding. Measure from this point to the floor and this will be your finish length.
Next, let’s define a few terms:
Hover or Floor Length-Drapes that meet the floor:
This is the most popular option for customers to select. Floor length drapes lend a more casual look, and are a more practical option if the drapes will be opened and closed often. If you are using a drapery rod with rings, measure from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor to get your finished length.
Trouser Break-Drapes break like a pair of trousers-one inch of fabric on the floor:
Trouser break drapes offer a tailored, but more casual look with that designer touch. Take the measurement from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor and add one inch. All fabrics look great with this look.
Minimal Puddle-Drapes “puddle” or gather slightly on the floor:
Beautifully tailored looking drapes with a minimal puddle. This look adds softness to a room for a more cozy feel. Take the measurement from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor and add 1-3″ to create this look.
Moderate Puddle-Drapes with a more substantial amount of fabric gathered on the floor:
Take the measurement from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor and add 3-6″ for a moderate puddle. This style is more appropriate for rooms with less traffic, where you won’t be cleaning the floors often. This lends towards a more formal look, and drapes that puddle can really help with heating and cooling loss!
Opulent Puddle-A large amount of fabric gathered on the floor:
A more formal, luxurious feel. Measure from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor, and add 6-8″ for an opulent puddle. This style is usually used in formal settings, perfect for drapes that won’t be opened and closed often. For a romantic look, silk fabrics look beautiful when puddled on the floor.
If you are designing outdoor drapes, you may want your drapes a couple of inches off the ground. Keep in mind that on your patio, water may puddle, dirt and leaves may collect, so by shortening your drapes two inches you will prevent the bottom of the drapes from getting dirty:
DrapeStyle has been making custom draperies for over a decade. We have thousands of satisfied customers because we truly care about helping you design your dream drapes. There are guide lines that can provide you with the information you will need when ordering your drapes. Still need a little help? We’re here to help you every step of the way and we can determine the best width and length for your drapes.
DrapeStyle has been awarded the Best of Houzz for customer service, three years in a row. We LOVE helping our customers create their dream drapes! How should you decide on a color for your room? Ask yourself these questions:
~What is the main purpose of this room? Entertaining, family time, sleeping?
~What colors DON’T you like. Yes, you read that correctly. By eliminating the colors you don’t like, you will narrow down the color choices.
~Do you have an inspiration piece? Is there a rug or a piece of art that you will be using in this room? You can select colors from these pieces for your room color.
Color has the power to convey and communicate meanings and messages without words.
Why do we find one place appealing and are uneasy in another? Why are we attracted to one product over another? Color—whether architectural or in products—accounts for 60 percent of our response to an object or a place.
The “buzz” about color is usually called “color psychology.” But the effects of color are subtle and significant; physical and psychological. Color use is not something that results in a definitive equation between “color and our moods,” as is a currently popular expression. Wherever we go we respond to color, but the importance of color is often underestimated. Color use is important to us personally in our homes and in the places where we work.
Black is the color of authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Some fashion experts say a woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains often wear black. Black is the color of the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, creating an air of mystery.
White symbolizes innocence, wholeness, completion and purity. White is a neutral, it goes with everything. Brides wear white to symbolize purity. Doctors and nurses wear it to symbolize sterility.
The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Red is the color of energy, passion, action, ambition and determination.
The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. The color psychology of pink is unconditional love and nurturing. Pink can also be immature, silly and girlish. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.
Orange is the color of social communication and optimism. Orange is associated with meanings of joy, warmth, heat, sunshine, enthusiasm, creativity, success, encouragement, change, determination, health, stimulation, happiness, fun, enjoyment, balance, sexuality, freedom, expression, and fascination. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite.
Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention-getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism. With the meaning of colors, in color psychology, yellow is the color of the mind and the intellect. It is optimistic and cheerful. However it can also suggest impatience, criticism and cowardice.
Green is currently the most popular decorating color, green symbolizes nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. Green is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in “green rooms” to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. Green is the color of balance and growth.
Blue is the color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms. Blue is the color of trust and peace. It can suggest loyalty and integrity as well as conservatism and frigidity. While blue is one of the most popular colors it is one of the least appetizing, blue food is rare in nature.
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare in nature, purple can appear artificial. Purple is the color of the imagination. It can be creative and individual or immature and impractical.
Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is one of their favorite colors. The color brown is a friendly yet serious, down-to-earth color that relates to security, protection, comfort and material wealth.
Gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph. Associated with abundance and prosperity, luxury and quality, prestige ans sophistication, value and elegance, the color psychology of gold implies affluence, material wealth and extravagance.
Silver has a feminine energy, it is related to the moon and the ebb and flow of the tides. It is fluid, emotional, sensitive and mysterious. Silver is associated with meanings of industrial, sleek, high-tech, and modern, as well as ornate, glamorous, graceful, sophisticated, and elegant. Silver is a precious metal and often symbolizes riches and wealth.

What is a “Width”? This is probably the question I am asked most often from customers.
You ordered fabric samples. You taped the fabric samples to your wall next to the window. You lived with those samples taped to your wall for two weeks, and finally decided on a color. Now you’re ready to order your drapes.
Quantity, check. Fabric, check. Pleat, check. Length, check. Width…..width? Do I need 1 width? 2 and a half widths? What IS a width?
You are online, ordering drapes and you hit a snag. What is a “width”? This is the question I am asked most often. A width refers to the width of the fabric used to make a drape or curtain. Usually, when you roll the fabric off a bolt, it is about 54″ wide. 1 width starts out at 54″ wide. The sewing begins by gathering and tacking the pleat. Then we create 1 1/2″ side hems with blind stitching. Then we sew 3 1/2″ overlaps-you want the drapes to overlap in the center, so light does not shine through.
These pictures are examples of drapes that do not have overlaps, they are not wide enough to completely close:
DrapeStyle also creates 3 1/2″ returns-a return is a piece of fabric at the end of the drape that returns back to the wall so that light does not shine through the sides. So what started as a 54″ wide piece of fabric, is now a 26″ wide drape with French Pleats.
Here are some examples of returns:
So based on all of these details, NOW how many widths do I need?
DrapeStyle has this easy formula we use to determine width:
Length of drapery rod (in inches) + 16″ = X
X divided by the # of drapes = how many inches wide each drape should be.
Ask yourself how wide is your window? Or better yet, how wide is the drapery rod you are going to hang your drapes on? If your window is 48″ wide, you will probably want to extend the drapery rod at least 4″ on both sides of the window. So your finish width is 56″.
Take the finished width, 56″, and add 16″ to account for hems and overlaps. 56″ plus 16″ equals 72″.
Take this number, 72″, and divide it by the number of drapes you would like. Usually the number of drapes is 2. So 72″ divided by 2 equals 36″. You want each drape to be at least 36″ wide. This will ensure that the drapes will have adequate coverage and it will be 2 times fullness. Fullness refers to the additional fabric needed to make the pleats full and rich looking. At DrapeStyle, we think that 2 times fullness looks great. You want your drapes to look, full, luxurious, and rich looking. Not wimpy, and you certainly want to be sure that the drapes are made wide enough to close. After all, you paid for the drapes to block out light and add a little privacy, right?
Here’s a chart to help you:
Or, when you are entering your information online, next to the width you select, it will tell you how wide the drape will be:
Bottom line, DON’T SWEAT IT!
We are here to help you figure out all of the details so that we can create your dream drapes! Contact us and tell us your window measurements and we’ll do the rest. DrapeStyle has been awarded the Best of Houzz Customer Satisfaction award, three years in a row. We LOVE to help our customers create the perfect window treatments for their home. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. DrapeStyle has been making custom drapes, roman shades and pillows for over a decade, by women with an average of 25 years experience. We think you’ll be pleased with the results.
You’re expecting! Congratulations!
So much to do before your little one arrives! And preparing the nursery is a must. Not only can window treatments provide the finishing touch for a room, but window treatments in a nursery can make all the difference in your baby’s sleeping patterns. If you are preparing a nursery, you will want to consider blackout lined drapes and roman shades. Your baby will be sleeping most of the time, and blackout lining will provide nearly complete blockage of sunlight and streetlights, and provide UV protection; it is a great investment. For an additional $99 per drape, you can add blackout lining and protect your window treatment investment.
Roman shades are a great way to create privacy and block out light. DrapeStyle can custom make roman shades to fit inside or mounted outside your window. This is a beautiful and inexpensive way to control light in a nursery. Decorative drapery panels can be added to either side of the window for added interest, texture and color. Tie in your drapes with the crib bedding or the theme of the nursery. Don’t be afraid to add fun designs or bright colors to the nursery. Have fun and get creative!
You can add a designer touch by adding unique tiebacks to the drapes. Traditional tiebacks can be beautiful, but why not get creative and use garland, flowers, stuffed animals; almost anything can be attached to rope or ribbon and be used as a tie back!
Decorating your nursery with soft colors, wild fun prints, or you just want to keep it simple. However you decide to decorate your nursery, make it a special place for you and your baby. You both will be spending a lot of time in the nursery, so it is important to make it a calm, comfortable place for both of you.

How many of you made New Year’s resolutions?
I usually make two; one resolution I know I can keep, like, I vow to take a multivitamin everyday. And the other is more of a goal. This year, my “goal” is to clean out and organize my craft closet. I have a craft closet, stuffed full of all things crafty; jewelry making stuff, pillow making stuff, party decorating stuff, sewing stuff, 4th of July decorations, St. Patty’s day decorations, floral arranging stuff… You get the point. So I plan on cleaning out my closet, and reorganize everything so it’s easy to get to. And I’m going to try and get my husband to clean out the garage. And I think if we clean and purge enough, we might have enough “stuff” to hold a yard sale.
Resolve to Refresh…
If the New Year puts you in the same mind set; cleaning out and organizing, you may find that you want to update a few things around the house. What about custom made window treatments and pillows?
Much like a well tailored suit, custom window treatments in the correct length and width, can make all the difference. And DrapeStyle can help. We’ve been making custom drapes and roman shades since 2002. In any length and any width, we can create a look that’s just right for your home. You know how good you look in a tailored outfit, if it fits good, you feel great. It’s the same with window treatments.
Sure, you can purchase drapes at the department store in the lengths they want to sell. Sure, you can go to the home store and purchase the same ready made roman shades your neighbors have. Or you can get custom window treatments made in your choice of over 400 fabrics, 6 drapery pleat styles, 5 roman shade styles, and dozens of different trims, tassels, fringe and ribbon for that truly custom look.

The Staff at DrapeStyle
Winter’s coming…and according to the Farmer’s Almanac, you’d better stock up on long johns and firewood. Especially if you’re east of the Rockies, predictions are, you are going to be hit hard! Pair that with rising energy costs, and your monthly home heating costs could go through the roof!
Here are 7 things you can do to help combat a cold house and make your thermostat happy:
1. Add A Down Filled Comforter
Down has always been the preferred insulator when worn or for bundling up while sleeping. Body heat is trapped between the little fluffs of down, creating a re-generating heat source that will keep you warm all night long. There are different weight levels available-some are even available with dual-zone comforters for bed partners with different sleeping temperature preferences! The best down originates from birds from the coldest climates, such as Hungarian or Siberian geese. Plus, using a duvet allows you to change your room’s look easily from season to season or from one style to another without having to reinvest in a quality insert.
2. Use A Humidifier
Cold, winter air is notoriously dry, often leaving your home’s humidity around 10%…far short of the ideal of 30-40% Having the correct humidity levels not only provides additional warmth to a house, but it also has many other benefits such as reducing allergens, reducing the risk of furniture damage, and controlling static electricity.
3. Change The Direction Of Your Ceiling Fans
Most fans spin and pull air up to the ceiling. By simply reversing the direction of your ceiling fan and pushing the rising heat back down into your living space, you can save as much as 10% on energy costs. Ceiling too high to manually change blade direction? This may be a good time to replace your fan with one with a built-in remote control.
4. Reinforce Cold, Drafty Areas
Windows — Take a candle or incense stick to the window on a breezy day. Move around the frame, inside and outside of the trim, and see if the smoke moves. If it does, you have a draft spot. Use paintable caulk for around the trim and silicone caulk outside if you can. There are window weatherstrips available at most home improvement stores as well. Insulating your window draperies can help keep the draft from entering the room as well.
Doors — The old, simple solution is a draft dodger-a fabric tube filled with sand or rice that lays along the bottom of your door. Etsy has some fun and stylish options. The best option, however, is to replace the weather stripping around your door, including the threshold strip.
5. Add Insulated Drapery Lining
DrapeStyle can help with this one! DrapeStyle offers insulated drapery lining, also called thermal lining, for all drapes and roman shades. It’s common for drafts to come in around windows. However, most pre-fabricated drapery panels available at most retailers, come with a simple, thin lining or with no lining at all. DrapeStyle’s custom drapes and roman shades include lining! Let us help you select the interlining that’s best for your climate. Interlining also adds body and weight to your drapes for a very luxurious, custom look. Our skilled workroom can add the following interlining to your drapes:
Flannel Interlining— Similar to the lightweight flannel sheets your grandma used, this supple lining goes between the face fabric and standard sateen lining. Flannel interlining has been shown to reduce heat loss by 25%.
Bump Interlining— Originally used in Europe’s cold-climate country homes, bump interlining offers the most insulation for cold and sound. It also gives a nice weight and drape to fine fabrics, such as silk.
6. Add Rugs To Bare Floors
Aside for the obvious (that rugs are warmer than tile or wood), wool rugs in particular are a natural insulator similar to down. They’re hypoallergenic, provide moisture, and are incredibly durable. Well-kept wool rugs can be handed down through generations. Even better than an area rug would be wall-to-wall wool carpeting.
7. Get An Energy Audit
An inexpensive (often subsidized-check with your local electric company) professional test for air leaks, insulation levels and other thermal performance factors is the best way to learn where the cold is getting into your house. They will give you tips and tricks to help keep the cold out, and often times will do the work themselves at a discounted fee. Click here for more information on audits.
So there you have it, 7 great ways to help keep the cold out this winter. Or, you could always take up baking, not only will the heat from the oven heat up your home, but the baked goods you hand out to neighbors and co-workers will get you off of Santa’s naughty list!
It’s first thing in the morning, you pour yourself a cup of coffee, you turn around and who’s looking in your window staring you in the face? Your neighbor. Unless you don’t mind waving to your neighbor in your pajamas, you need window treatments. But if you have tall windows, what options are there?
Tall, dramatic windows can offer spectacular views and add height to a room. But covering them is a whole other story.
The first thing you need to ask yourself is, do I need privacy, or are these window treatments going to be decorative. If your neighbor is close enough to see what you are eating for dinner, then you probably want window treatments that offer privacy. If you need full coverage, from the top of the window to the bottom, then consider drapes with privacy lining. DrapeStyle has the ability to make any length drape. Select a decorative fabric that complements your room, then simply draw the drapes closed when privacy is needed.
Do you occasionally need the room darkened? Roman shades with blackout lining is the answer. You can keep the shades raised most of the time for a more decorative look, and lower them when the time comes to enjoy a movie at home, or when the baby needs to take a nap.
Do your tall windows offer an incredible view that you don’t want to obstruct? Consider adding sheers to your windows. DrapeStyle carries sheers in several different colors, style and fabrics so you are sure to find one that works for you. Sheers can add drama and softness to a room, without breaking the bank. Whether you are looking for a classic sheer or something more modern, DrapeStyle has plenty of reasonably priced sheers to choose from.
Want to add a little color to your walls but keep your view? Why not add long drapes to either side of the window? A drape that is 1 or 2 widths wide might be just enough to add a little drama to your room. You can add a decorator touch by using shorter drapery rods to hang your long drapes from. DrapeStyle offers custom drapery hardware so you can order just the right size hardware, custom made for your windows. And by using narrow drapes, you can save a little money. Have you been eyeing a dramatic fabric but having it made into full width drapes might put you over your budget? Decorative drapes are a great way to get that pop of color you want without breaking the bank.
If you really don’t want coverage but need protection form the sun, consider using UV window film on your windows. It will cut down on glare and help protect your furnishings from the sun.
Want to add more drama to your tall windows? Bring the attention up with a band of contrasting fabric towards the top of the drape. Need to ground things a bit? Bring the attention down by adding a band of fabric to the bottom of your drape and your space will feel more cozy.
Need a little help? Feel free to contact us, we’re here to walk you through the process. Drapes are an investment and we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. DrapeStyle has been in business since 2002 and we know drapes and curtains. Our seamstresses each have, on average, 25 years of experience. No detail is overlooked.
